Description

The IC 74LS145 is a BCD to Decimal decoder based on TTL technology, designed to drive ten binary outputs using four binary inputs. The IC comprises eight inverters and ten NAND gates, each having four inputs. This clever arrangement of eighteen gates enables the IC to produce ten outputs through the NAND gates.

The four inputs accept binary values ranging from 0000 to 1111. The IC ensures that it outputs a HIGH signal on invalid inputs and a LOW signal on specific valid inputs, generating a single active output.

The IC is highly versatile and can be used with TTL, DTL, or MOS integrated circuits. Its intended applications include open collector logic circuits and serving as indicators/drivers for relays. It boasts low power dissipation and incorporates clamp diodes that aid in controlling termination during high-speed operations.
