March 8, 2021
Meet Edison, a robust, programmable educational robot designed to make STEM education more entertaining and engaging, while tendering a meaningful 21st-century education.
With Edison robots, students can learn math, science, critical and design thinking, and engineering. Thus, learners from ages 4 to 16 can enjoy the amazing benefits of Edison’s robotic capabilities in classroom environments, such as empowering them to become:
- Coders
- Inventors
- Problem solvers
- Creative thinkers
Edison Learning Essentials
When it comes to learning STEM, it’s crucial to ensure that each student is equipped with the essential equipment. Edison robots are straightforward and come with free teaching resources, making them great for teaching coding, computational thinking and STEM.
What’s more, Edison can be purchased in bundle-packs with bulk discounts. There are no ongoing fees as well! Meaning, all three robot programming software languages are free for unlimited users.
Edison Starter Kit
Edison Starter Kit: Edison Robot V2.0 Special Offer
A robot capable of many different functions, Edison is accessible by driving it over barcodes. You can download and print these barcodes for free, along with other free downloadable resources including line mats, lesson plans, programming software, and Edbooks containing new barcodes and functions.
Use these barcodes to turn Edison into a line tracker, remote control vehicle, sumo wrestler and more! Besides the pre-programmed barcode functions, Edison can also be programmed using several pieces of FREE downloadable software, aimed at different levels of learners.
- For basic learners: EdBlocks, a ‘scratch-like’ platform for Edison based on a collection of graphical “programming blocks” children snap together to create programs. This allows younger learners to build the knowledge and confidence necessary to start coding.
- For intermediate learners: EdScratch software, which uses a flowchart-like drag-and-drop interface to create instructions, loops and logic for Edison to interpret. EdScratch is available as an online app.
- For advanced learners: EdPy. Edison is now programmable in Python. EdPy extends Edison’s functionality and teaches higher-level programming concepts. EdPy maximises the potential of Edison’s wheel encoders and gives users superior control of Edison.
Download programs to Edison using the included EdComm Cable, which plugs into your computer’s headphone jack and carries a pulsed audio signal to a high-efficiency LED. The LED converts the pulsed audio signal into light. This is then received by Edison’s line tracker phototransistor and the program is loaded into the processor.
