Description

The MM74C926N IC is a CMOS counter featuring a 4-digit counter, an internal output latch, NPN output sourcing drivers for a 7-segment display, and internal multiplexing circuitry with four multiplexing outputs. Unlike similar devices, this IC has its own internal oscillator, eliminating the need for an external clock. Counters increment on the negative edge of the clock signal.

To control the operation, a HIGH signal on the Reset input resets the counter to zero, setting the carry-out to LOW. Conversely, a LOW signal on the Latch Enable input latches the counter's number into the internal output latches. Additionally, the Display Select input, when HIGH, chooses the counter number for display, while a LOW-level signal selects the output latch's number for display.

This IC is similar to the MM74C925 but offers additional features like display selection and a carry-out signal for cascading multiple counters. The carry-out signal transitions from HIGH at 6000 to LOW at 0000.
