Description
The Adafruit Pi Plate enables easy use of an RGB Backlight Positive 16x2 coloured character LCD.
These LCDs typically require a number of digital pins. 6 to control the LCD and another 3 to control the RGB backlight, for a total of 9 pins. And with changeable backlight color, full-text support and 5 keypad pins, that's nearly all of the GPIO available on a Pi!
The PCB, components, and LCD are all included in the kit. This means that the kit must be assembled, which should take about 30 minutes. The kit also includes an extra-long 26-pin header to ensure that the Pi Plate clears the USB ports and Ethernet jack.
