PICAXE is a PIC chip made by the company MicroChip Technology with the PICAXE bootloader code flashed into it by the UK based company www.picaxe.com It has become the education standard product around Australia. PICAXE chips are extremely versatile and can be programmed to read temperature and humidity sensors, control motors, convert analogue to digital (ADC), read infra-red remote controls, control servo’s and read matrix keypads amongst many other applications. Unlike most memory I.C.s they can be reprogrammed over and over again, using nothing more than a single computer interface cable and FREE software available for download. The programming language is easy to learn and the flowchart software even easier to use. What’s more, this technology is extremely cheap making it popular with beginners and the more experienced user.
