Vices and Work Holders
Vices and work holders are tools for metalworking, woodworking, and other fabrication processes to securely hold and position a workpiece for machining or other operations. They are the most basic and fundamental work-holding devices.
A vice is a clamping tool that consists of two jaws, one fixed and one movable. They grip and hold the workpiece in place. Vices come in various sizes and styles and can be attached to a workbench or a machine table.
Work holders, also known as fixtures, are similar to vices in that they secure a workpiece for machining or other operations. However, work holders are often more specialized and are for specific types of workpieces or operations.
