Description

The IC 4047 is a CMOS Low Power Monostable/Astable Multivibrator for converting DC current signals to AC current signals. It has a high voltage rating of about 20V. It is a 14-pin integrated circuit that uses logic approaches to enable negative or positive edge-triggered monostable multivibrator action overlaid with retriggering and external counting choices. This IC is useful for Frequency Division and Time Delay applications due to its buffered output and low power consumption.

The IC 4047 Monostable/Astable Multivibrator is a low-power inverter with the capacity to operate in both astable and monostable modes.

In the astable mode, it generates a continuous square wave output with a fixed frequency and adjustable duty cycle.

In the monostable mode, the IC produces a single output pulse of a predetermined duration in response to an external trigger signal.

Features

  • Lower power consumption special CMOS oscillator configuration
  • Monostable (one-shot) or astable (free-running) operation
  • True and complemented buffered outputs
  • Only one external R and C required
  • Buffered inputs
  • Internal power-on reset circuit
  • Long pulse widths possible using small RC components by means of external counter provision
  • 100% Tested for quiescent current at 20V
  • Standardized, symmetrical output characteristics
  • Positive-or negative-edge trigger
  • Output pulse width independent of trigger pulse duration
  • Retriggerable option for pulse width expansion
  • Fast recovery time essentially independent of pulse width
  • Pulse-width accuracy maintained at duty cycles approaching 100%
