Description
In this Wailing Siren Kit, there are two oscillators: a simple two transistor "multivibrator" to flash the LEDs. Also a low-cost 555 Timer IC to produce the siren output to drive the speaker. The output of the multivibrator used to flash the LEDs is also used to vary the frequency of the 555 oscillator frequency. The 555 IC Output then drives the speaker. This is how we create the two tones that the 555 IC produces. As the two-transistor multivibrator goes from a red to green LED the DC voltage on the input to the 555 changes. This produces a wailing sound.
