Description
The MAX8212CPA IC is an advanced CMOS Microprocessor Voltage Monitor. It has programmable voltage detection capabilities, designed to alert microprocessors (µPs) to power failures.
Each unit comprises a comparator, a 1.5V bandgap reference, and an open-drain n-channel output driver. By employing two external resistors with the internal reference, users can precisely set the trip voltage to their desired level. Additionally, these devices feature a hysteresis output, allowing for the application of positive feedback to ensure noise-free output switching.
When a voltage exceeding 1.5V is detected at the threshold pin, the output stage activates without any current limitations.
The MAX8212CPA IC devices serve as direct replacements for the bipolar ICL8211/ICL8212 in applications where the maximum supply voltage remains below 16.5V. They offer various performance advantages, including reduced supply current, a more tightly controlled bandgap reference, and a higher available current from the hysteresis output.
Applications include: µP voltage monitoring, undervoltage detection, overvoltage detection, battery-backup switching, power-supply fault monitoring, low-battery detection.
