Description
The 7491 is an 8-bit shift register package. When the circuit receives a clock pulse, the data on the input pins is clocked into the first register. All previously registered data will be shifted over to make room for the new input.
Every cycle, data at the far end of the chain will be clocked out. This circuit functions as an 8-bit First-In-First-Out buffer queue in this regard.
