Description
The 74195 IC is a 4-bit parallel access shift register, packaged in a 16-lead plastic DIP. It offers a range of features including parallel inputs, parallel outputs, J-K serial inputs, shift/load control input, and a direct overriding clear. All input signals are buffered to reduce input drive requirements. This register functions in two distinct modes:
- Parallel (Broadside) Load: In this mode, data is loaded by applying four bits of data and setting the shift/load control input low. The data is loaded into the corresponding flip-flops and appears at the outputs after a positive clock input transition.
- Shift (in the direction QA toward QD): Shifting occurs synchronously when the shift/load control input is high. Serial data for this mode is introduced through the J-K inputs. These inputs enable the first stage to operate as a J-K, D-, or T-type flip-flop.
