Description

The IC DS1232 is a MicroMonitor Chip from Dallas Semiconductor. It monitors three vital conditions for a microprocessor: power supply, software execution, and external override. It features a precision temperature-compensated reference and comparator circuit that monitors the status of VCC. When VCC goes out of tolerance, it generates an internal power fail signal, forcing a reset to the active state. The reset signals remain active for a minimum of 250 ms after VCC returns to tolerance to allow stabilization.

Additionally, the DS1232 provides pushbutton reset control, debouncing the pushbutton input and ensuring a minimum active reset pulse width of 250 ms. It also includes a watchdog timer with timeout settings of approximately 150 ms, 600 ms, and 1.2 seconds. If the strobe input is not driven low before timeout, the internal timer forces the reset signals to the active state.
