Description
The Alloy POE200SC PoE Media Converter serves a dual purpose by supporting media conversion applications between Fast Ethernet 10/100Base-TX over UTP/STP copper cable and SC terminated 100Base-FX over multimode fibre cable, with a range of up to 2 kilometres.
Additionally, it can support IEEE 802.3af compliant Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications. Thus allowing it to power PoE equipment such as IP phones and IP cameras via UTP or STP data cable.
The Alloy POE200SC is a member of Alloy's POE200 Series of PoE Media Converters. This series supports various Fast Ethernet copper-to-fibre media conversion applications, including 10/100Mbps RJ-45 copper to 100Base-FX multimode fibre (with LC, SC or ST connectors, a maximum range of 2 kilometres), and 10/100Mbps RJ-45 copper to 100Base-FX single-mode fibre (SC connectors for 20 or 40Km ranges).
The POE200 Series Converters offer support for Link Fault Passthrough using Far-end-Fault (FEF) mode. LFP allows for monitoring of both copper and fibre RX ports for signal loss, and if one media port loses the RX signal, the Converter will disable the TX signal to the other media port, conveying the link fault LED status. FEF mode stops sending a link pulse to an LFP-capable Converter on the other end of the cable, synchronously stopping data transmission to prevent loss of transmitted data over an invalid link.
