Description
The TXB0104 Bi-Directional Level Shifter by Adafruit is a versatile module that performs bidirectional level shifting between virtually any voltage level, automatically detecting signal direction. It’s ideal for seamless communication between devices operating at different logic levels.
Note that this module is not suitable for I2C applications due to strong pullups that interfere with the auto-direction sensing. Additionally, it may not work well with control lines with high capacitance. For pullups, resistors should be at least 50K ohms—internal pullups in AVRs/Arduino (~100K ohms) are compatible.
This module is more advanced than a 74LVX245 and eliminates the need to manually manage directional pins, making it an excellent choice for complex projects. However, it's designed for logic-level shifting and cannot drive LEDs or long cables. It's best used on a breadboard for connecting logic chips.
